and you’re invited to shop them all!

WHAT: Fall Market and Bake Sale featuring Scarecrows in the Garden! 

Scarecrows have taken over the Northern Plains Botanic Garden and you’re invited to shop them all!

 

Unique Scarecrows crafted by donors will be on display and for sale at the fourth annual Scarecrows in the Garden event. Come see the scarecrows on display and tour the picturesque gardens as they show off their end of summer colors and transition to autumn shades.

 

Wander around the Children’s Garden, take family portraits with fantastic blooming displays, and enjoy kids' activities. Shop our pumpkins and fall market while you enjoy a savory bite from Heart-n-Soul Community Café. See a scarecrow that catches your eye? Purchase it to take home!

LUNCH AVAILABLE: Heart-N-Soul Community Café will be selling lunch items between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Menu:
- Brats, caramelized onions, ketchup, and mustard, chips, coleslaw

- Fall Harvest Bowl (vegetarian & no gluten/vegan & no gluten): mixed greens, seasoned rice, roasted local fall vegetables, creamy balsamic basil dressing, roasted pepitas

Dessert:
- Pumpkin Bars
- Black Bean Brownies (vegan & no gluten)

This event is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome but not required.

Proceeds will be used to support the Northern Plains Botanic Garden.

 

Calling all Donors, Sponsors, and Volunteers!

Show off your craftiness as you, or your team, create a unique one-of-a-kind scarecrow for sale. Scarecrows will be on display with their creator’s name, company, or organization! Funds raised will be used to support and grow the Northern Plains Botanic Garden. 

 

Additional donations of time, talent, and funding are always welcome!

Suggested Donations: Homemade Baked Goods, Preserves, Fall Craft Items

  • Homemade Baked Goods: Breads, Pies, Tarts, Pastries, Candy

  • Jellies, Jams, Pickles, Fruit Preserves

Drop off of Items is requested on Friday, September 13, between 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. at the NPBGS Greenhouse -or- Saturday, September 14, before the 10 a.m. event start time. We kindly request that perishable donations like baked goods be dropped off the morning of Saturday, September 14th as our greenhouse is not temperature controlled.

Guidelines for making Scarecrows

  1. Sign Up! Just Register HERE or Email info@npbotanicgarden.com 

  2. RSVP your scarecrow contribution by Friday, September 13, 2024. Monetary donations are also accepted and can be made in addition to or in lieu of scarecrow donation (via cash, check, or our website). Suggested donation for businesses: $50+.

  3. Have fun and be creative!

  4. Scarecrows can be made from “non-traditional” items.

  5. Size Restrictions: Between 12” and 72”.

  6. We ask that Scarecrows be built with support, so they are capable of standing alone. Hanging scarecrows intended for doors, benches, etc are also welcomed.

  7. Deliver Scarecrows no later than Friday Sept 13th between 4 p.m.-7 p.m. to the Northern Plains Botanic Garden Greenhouse (1211 28th Ave N, Fargo, ND 58102).

  8. Scarecrows will be displayed with their creator’s name/company/organization.

  9. Scarecrows should remain on display until 4 p.m., Saturday September 14, 2023.​​
